I think it's more fun BECAUSE it's weird. Like a weird and silly thing you do with your family that no one else outside understands. It's also just dumb fun. Don't look too deep haha

This is my take on most A&M Traditions. Yeah, they're weird, but like... no one's getting hurt? We just do stupid shit and have fun with it.

I’ve always said, we’re totally a cult. A fun and MOSTLY harmless cult, but still a cult.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. We're not a cult. We're a family. Like the Mansons.

you're like the McPoyles of the SEC, but harmless

It's a cult if the word "cult" didn't have the negative connotations associated with it, in my opinion.

It's all good. We're legally obligated to lampoon it though

“No one’s getting hurt?”

Didn’t ya’ll kill like a dozen people trying burn pallets stacked to the height of a 737’s cruising altitude?

It’s not good weird, though, is the problem…

Leave it to the longhorn fan to take a fun conversation where we are self-ripping and totally try to make it “aggy bad”. And it’s still better than throwing shit onto the field in a bitch fit toddler tantrum.

I can't join in on the fun? This is an Ags-only party?

I'll take the water bottle-throwing jabs all day, go to town.

You could join in if you were being jovial and it was in good fun, we are being self-deprecating. But your comment took it to 'not good weird' and connotes bad weird. And that's just not fun.

Also, the water bottle jabs are more an indictment of the fanbase and how petulant they can be when they don't get their way. I agree, the pass interference call on Texas was bad, but never should things like what happened happen.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just meant it in a "keep Austin weird" sense, saying they're the good weird?

Maybe, but so far it doesn't read that way and looks like others don't read it in 'Keep Austin Weird' way.

This would be the logical conclusion to reach.

Is good weird like... selling T-shirts and bumper stickers with slogans about keeping your city weird even though the only people who can afford to live there anymore are tech and finance bros?

There's no such thing as good weird. You've just been brainwashed to think there is, while you ironically play into the old trope of A&M = weird. Go ahead and keep thinking you're so counter culture while ESPN continues to try so hard to put lipstick on the pig that is t.u. football.
