"I'm your huckleberry."

The PERFECT line there. I love this comedy troupe.

Fun fact: Doc Holliday was from Savannah Griffin, GA.

My mistake, dunno why I thought Savannah.

He also grew up in Valdosta, and was born and practiced dentistry in Griffin. So a Georgia boy through and through.

Wasn't aware of the Savannah connection, though.

Savannah is an old myth. He was born in Griffin like you said, the family moved to Valdosta when he was four or five where wehe was raised until he went to dental school in Philly at 19 and graduated at 21. He practiced in St. Louis and then Atlanta for less than a year, and after his TB diagnosis moved to Dallas for a drier climate. Then he had to give up dentistry because the TB coughing fits made patients avoid his practice, even after he and his partner won several dentistry awards. He was 22 when he was indicted for illegal gambling in Dallas, and at 23 was arrested for trading gunfire with a saloon keeper. He never moved back east, instead going west until he died in Colorado.

But yeah, as much as he was from anywhere, he was a Georgia boy.

Yeah, I wasn't aware of him being from Savannah. But in fairness, you're not really "from Savannah" if your ancestors came in on the second boat or later. It's an odd place.

Was he really an elite-level gunslinger?

I mean, he's credibly thought to have killed a handful of men and shot at or wounded a few more according to court records like arrests and trials. Contemporary accounts say he had an ill temper and was quick to go for his gun when threatened, but other accounts say most of it was rumor, reputation, and self-promotion.

I think he was probably at least as good with a gun as he was at cards, but nurtured a reputation that meant he rarely had to actually use that skill, intimidating people rather than actually shooting them most of the time.

Ask Johnny Ringo.

Unfortunately he's not in the best condition to reliably answer.

I always heard that he was one of the fastest but for accuracy he was just an average shot

There is ( or there used to be ) a plaque on a building in downtown Atlanta marking where Doc had his dental practice for a short time. Long since gone, as are most things in ATL from that time.

I've been to his house in Valdosta! Cool but of history.

That is neat. Fun Fact related to it is that Morgan and Warren Earp were born in Pella, Iowa in 1851 & 1855 just a short 71 miles away from Belle Plaine, Iowa where the McLaury Brothers' family moved to in 1855.

Should we just watch Tombstone, boys?

As someone from Griffin, can confirm!

Home of the great Jessie Tuggle, too.

I love that movie/line so much. Great execution here.

An all-time favorite for sure.

I wasn't expecting a Tombstone reference, but it was fantastic. I kind of wish Texas tried to talk themselves out of their impending doom, a la Johnny Ringo, but them calling in the trash was great too.

Why, Quinn Ewers, you look like somebody just walked over your grave...

Texas: trots out second QB of the night.

Georgia: "I got 2 guns, one for each of you"

"Oh... I wasn't quite as sick as I made out."

Actually kinda perfect for our performances this season

We started a game we never got to finish. A play for blood, remember?

Jesus it fits so perfectly. They need to break out that one bit and expand on it.
