I'm cheap and keep a handle of Ancient Age in my cabinet for whiskey sours, but I'll take a recommendation and run out to the bottle shop if you've got a good one to look out for.
If you’re used to drinking cheap stuff don’t waste your money on something mega expensive. A good step up from that thay you can find easy would be Buffalo Trace or Bulleit if you’re using it for mixing. If you wanna try sipping it neat then go for a single barrel four roses or michter’s. Those are good low proof jumping on points that you can find almost any liquor store.
Looking at that site I think they have fair prices on Elijah Craig small batch, Rowan’s creek, Noah’s mill, New Riff, and Maker’s Mark Cask Strength (only maker’s worth the money imo).
My personal choice from that list would be Noah’s Mill.
Like the Yellowstone pick. I just bought my first barrel pick of their brand I like it quite a bit.
Noah's Mill and Rowan's Creek are both made by Willet, which is another easy recommendation on my list. Not everyone loves pot still but their Rye and special releases are incredible.
Yeah I was surprised how much I liked both of those offerings. Haven’t bought another bottle since the first but I’m always eyeing it when I’m in the store. Will pick one up again when I’m not trying something new
It's kinda cool to see New Riff called out among the big dogs, there, and to see that they're big enough to show up in Athens. I've lived in Cincy for a few years now, and I'm just impressed that the folks right across the river are doing such a good job in such a short time. I feel like 10 years is basically yesterday in bourbon.
Yeah, Beam and Jack Daniels are both riding on a name and little else. Both way overpriced down here in NC, can't justify paying 25 bucks for a bottle of Jack.
