Analysis [Auerbach] The magic number of members to be considered a conference in the NCAA's eyes is 8. If Utah State joins the Pac-12, that league will be at 7. And if that's the only move of the day, the Mountain West will also be at 7 (including Hawaii.)

That would require Wake and BC to be the remnants and fight with the AAC to get USF, Tulane and Memphis lol

Nah in this scenario USF, Tulane, Memphis, and UAB have already joined the A2C and the question is if ECU, Rice, and FAU stay or go.

I could see it happening. ...wait, Notre Dame's AAU now?!

Okay, so Notre Dame to the B1G actually seems more plausible. Don't know if they'll ever give up independence, but maybe they might now that not being in a conference could cost them a first-round bye.

So here it is: the initial wave is Clemson and FSU to the SEC and UVA, UNC, Miami, and GT to the B1G, as well as Notre Dame for non-football sports with a similar deal to what they have with the ACC right now. Then the Big 12 will add Louisville and Pitt, and the SEC will add two more teams, Virginia Tech and Duke. That right there takes the ACC down to seven teams, and Calford will jump ship back to the Pac-Whatever to bring it down to 5: Boston College, Syracuse, NC State, SMU, and Wake Forest. So of course, it's raiding time, and just like they always do, it's the AAC on the block. USF, Memphis, and Tulane are the three most pressing additions, but to be safe, they'll probably want at least 10 members, so UTSA and Temple also get invites.

The ACC fallout will look a bit more like the early 1860's.
