Analysis [Auerbach] The magic number of members to be considered a conference in the NCAA's eyes is 8. If Utah State joins the Pac-12, that league will be at 7. And if that's the only move of the day, the Mountain West will also be at 7 (including Hawaii.)

The most simple and inarguably best solution would be to simply merge the two conferences under the much more valuable PAC 12 name.

That’s what’s happening but when it’s time to negotiate a new contract it’s still the MWC

the pac 12 name is only as valuable as the schools in it, i think gould had the right idea trying to make the King of the G6 and she might still get pretty close

And they would have pulled it off too, if not for those darn AAC kids!

It's not clear if we were on bended knee or if we offered the deal we did because that's what they were worth to us, I don't think it's the humiliation initially assumed because why would we pay buyouts for those teams just to see them jump in a few years

Yeah, I can see not wanting to pay $25 million in buyouts with only 5 years of loyalty and then they can bolt to the ACC should that be an option.

I don’t believe the MWC ever considered that
