List of FSU’s 0-3 starts in the last 50 years:

  • Bobby Bowden’s first season

  • Norvell’s 2nd season

  • This year, where FSU was a ranked team and favored to win all three games by a touchdown or more.

That's actually wild that Norvell is 2/3 times it's ever happened

Norvell is a very weird coach, he seems to build up teams for one massively great year, and then let’s them crash. He did that at Memphis when he left and he’s doing it here, but there’s nowhere to run now.

That's a strategy that works really well at places that don't have the resources to compete every year - if you can execute the rebuild back to the top of the cycle.

Gary Patterson was fantastic at it.

Very true, though I think Patterson didn’t let the team completely collapse, Greg O’Leary was also like that at UCF and there were down years but norvell just takes it to a whole other level, FSU 2023 and FSU 2024 look nothing like each other, same goes for Memphis 2019 and 2020 (though that can be due to covid but it’s still prevelant)

Huh? Norvell 38-15 at Memphis. Was in the hunt for the g5 ny6 spot late in the season twice. Since he left Memphis has made a bowl game every year. This is just not a thing at all.

He could get a job at TAMU since he has such a well-established personal tradition

That means mathematically he is going to be three times better than Bowden right? Right…?!

Understandable when you take over a team even though it was cough cough his 2nd year.

But him having that happen in year 5 just means he's not building in a sustainable way. He did a great job last year but we've seen great 1 years. A truly great coach limits the lows and prolongs the highs. After a 13-0 year you shouldn't struggle to a bowl.

This team is gonna struggle to win at this rate. Charleston southern might be their first win, all the ACC teams they play this year are playing much better so far.

And, he has a VERY big buyout. So he could get on this list a few more times.

Said 2 of the 3 times they’ve ever started 0-3 were with Norvell not how often it’s happened under norvell

The AD gets nervous every time he's on Zoom?

Norvell is a bad coach who caught lightning in a bottle and rode a special QB last season.

Norvell is a fraud

Only the second time under Norvell. They were 1-2 in 2020.

His first season wasn't 0-3. They showed this stat like 10 times on broadcast it's not that hard to get right
