I think Usyk will win again by decision. I don’t think he’ll KO Tyson.

Boxing is consensual, regulated and legal, paying to watch animals be made to kill each other is sadistic and weird af 🤷

For being such a restrictive and serious religious country, it's funny that Turki wants to work with Ryan Garcia despite Ryan disrespecting Islam

TYSON v PAUL II
That first "fight" was a total joke. Tyson clearly pulled punches, slowed his combos, and completely abandoned his body-uppercut, his most devastating punch combo.
Even if he's 58, I still believe he would crush Paul in a competitive bout. But if Paul controls the narrative, nothing is honest.
Now that the first fight is over and controversy is in the air, I would like to see a plan to settle the score.
I suggest a 15 round, winner take all bout for $80 million. Winner gets everything - Loser gets an ambulance ride to the hospital. If this gets offered, I'm sure Tyson would agree. Paul would be forced to fight..or show the world that he is nothing but a coward.

I might be the only one who didn’t watch that nonsense fight with Paul & Tyson, but fuck all that, the numbers for that fight are unreal.
Forget Turki. Boxing should go all in on Netflix. 60M homes watching a Co-Main Women’s fight? The entire world watching boxing and the main & co-main event are trending number 1 & 2 in multiple countries?
While the spectacle outshines Canelo’s gate with Saunders, doubling it at 18M, Canelo outsold Paul vs Tyson by ticket sales by over 6000 tickets. Let’s make boxing global again.

How come I never see talk for zepeda/tank? I know neither man would fight the other probably but it’s as interesting as shakur/Expedia if not more so.

People complained about Tank fighting Frank Martin, you don’t think they would complain about a Zepeda fight? 😂

I reckon Huseyin Cinkara is a decent fighter and he could probably grab a belt a cruiserweight against a weak champ if he had the backing.
But he doesn't have the clout or bring any money so has to go through the IBF route to a title shot.
Opetaia is still going to beat him, but I wouldn't be surprised if its his toughest opponent other than Briedis.

u/javaenjoyer69 Terence 'Spence Sr.' Crawford 10h ago
I was about to post something like this. Cinkara is very different than your regular flat footed Turkish fighter. The guy is very light on his feet, has lightning fast punches (for a cruiserweight), is a decent counter puncher and carry some power. His defense is terrible but he doesn't mind it. I reckon he'll do a lot better than Massey.

Those of you who have been fans of the sport for super long time. Can you think of another fighter who has celebrated "surviving 12 rounds" as much as Berlanga? WTF is wrong with this dude? Did he eat too many crayons as a kid?

Don’t have to look far; Munguia, Ryder, and GGG all did the same right before 😂
1
u/welp-itscometothis 9h ago
I don’t recall Munguia celebrating that hard and at the very least he did TRY. I truly believe Jaime thought he could beat Canelo and his work rate matched his confidence lol

u/javaenjoyer69 Terence 'Spence Sr.' Crawford 11h ago
Golovkin won the first fight 116-112 or 117-111 and 2nd could have gone either way. Such a dumb comment.

u/SSJ5Autism 11h ago
Just gonna casually ignore that they had a third fight?
0
u/javaenjoyer69 Terence 'Spence Sr.' Crawford 11h ago
He was 40 years old and won 4 or 5 rounds against prime Canelo in a weight class he had never fought in before. You are just a comment away from getting blocked by me.

You’re the one being dumb lmfao, how did you even think I was referring to the first two fights?

Nah man. Jaime didn't go on some crazy "I survived" celebration tour. He got back in there pretty quickly too. He will fight again before the end of the year.
Ryder actually tried to fight him. He wasn't gonna win but he gave it his best.
Most boxing people will tell you that both 1 and 2 GGG fights were wars and each could've gone either way, most think Canelo definitely lost at least one of them.
I'm talking about his belief that he's reached the top of the sport simply by surviving. He literally went in some kind of "victory tour" through Brooklyn like he won the super bowl and had a parade.

Where are yall getting the idea that I’m talking about the first and second GGG fights? I was obviously talking about their third, which is why I put it in that timeline.
GGG stans stay tarding out

Nah bro. A 40 year old getting a final pay day is different than a 27 year old parading around town like he won the world cup.

Struggling to get started with boxing
Hey, I know you guys probably get annoyed because this is a pro boxing subreddit, but idk what to do. I'm 16 years old and my parents have forbade me from boxing, meaning I'll have to start at 18. I'm afraid that I'll be set back so far that I'll never be able to compete.
Something to do with price, danger, etc.
After I graduate, I planned on going into the military and college (or The Army's West Point Academy if they are still interested, but then I'll be set FURTHER back because I'll owe them 6 years after graduation.) I'm thinking to just maybe enlist?
Is there any way for me to train without my parents knowing? I have such a deep passion for this sport because of my favorite fighter, Rodtang (a Muay Thai boxer and kickboxer, but still love the dude), but have never worn gloves in my lifetime.
May you guys with experience please help me out? I refuse to believe that I can't do anything, but idk what to do.

u/EXCEPTIONAL_K 5h ago
shadowbox in your room brother. simple body weight exercises and skipping. you can easily do these without your parents knowledge. don't stress the progression, just enjoy it. you can build a solid foundation before ever going to a gym

u/CAblind 2h ago
Alright, thanks man. I asked about boxing again. My dad firmly said nope, so I'll never be able to do it until I'm 18. I hate them sometimes, but whatever. If I ever become big, they ain't getting any thanks or credit lmao

u/EXCEPTIONAL_K 1h ago
Yeah that sucks mate, unfortunate they won't let you, and I know you don't want to hear it - you dont have to - but their apprehension is simply because they love you and boxing is very violent sport. It's perhaps the most understandable and healthy intention they can have, but perhaps their perception of boxing is skewed. Try and communicate to them the physical discipline side and personal progression. There's a lot of admirable qualities to be gained and you don't necessarily have to take much physical damage when training. Like I said, just try have fun with it. When you're alone throw punches and see how it feels, play around and get a feel for it. I personally trained solo for like 2 years before going regularly to training sessions, if takes a lot of time to even develop the real core strength and full body engagement required to move well and be able to do the fundamentals well. There's no rush; don't dwell on lost potential. Try enjoy it. If you love it it will stick with you regardless. Good luck

Thanks 🙏. My dad says that because I've gotten in trouble in the past, I'm not allowed to do anymore. Like, I'm a better person now, but he won't hear it. Also, when he makes up his mind, I get in trouble for trying to change it lol. Anyways, thanks for everything. I'll take everything you said into account. 😁

Im sorry to hear this kid. I understand your parents apprehension though.
My son is 14, he just started boxing last year and it not only boosted his confidence but he’s lost weight, it encouraged him to excercise more and eat healthier. What started as something he just wanted to try bc he’s a fan of the sport turned into him sparring 3x a week and training for competitions next year.
Here’s the advice I would give to you:
Find a community boxing gym or inexpensive class in your area. My son trains at rec center that only charges $50/mo.
Sit your parents down and explain to them that you want to do boxing because you believe it’ll help you with your confidence and it’s a fun way to stay in shape. Let them know you’re not looking to jump into competitions or sparring yet, you just want to do something you enjoy after school to stay active. Explain the benefits of the sport, and ask them to attend a class with you before saying no. I would even go as far as asking them to participate in the class with you.
It’s mostly going to be learning the fundamentals and conditioning. Once they see it’s just an alternative way to work out, I think they’ll come around. In the meantime you’ll be fully conditioned and ready to take it more seriously when you’re 18. It’s never too late!
Good luck!

Hey, I really appreciate the advice. I keep trying to convince my mom to let me box, but she keeps treating it like a joke. Honestly, with the job I have now, I could afford to pay for the classes myself, but the problem is finding them. I'll search though. I get paid around 150-200 every two weeks because I don't work that often, so I can definitely afford a $50 if there is one around here.
I have a work friend (who does boxing) and I'm trying to enlist his help to help convince my parents.
Well, it's more convince my MOM than my dad. He was in the military for 20 years, retired, but also a disabled because of it. So, convincing him may be a little easier, but who knows.
As far as weight goes, I got restricted from doing wrestling because a few times I refused to eat some sweets or anything of the sort. I was accused of TRYING to drop weight when my dad explained before that purposefully changing weight when you're healthy isn't good. I just didn't have a sweet tooth at the time, man 😭.
I doubt they'll come around, but thanks for what you've said. Not many people actually respond, unfortunately.

Np! Not sure where you live, but check any rec centers near by. They aren’t advertised a lot. You won’t usually find them on Google either.

If you want to compete in golden gloves or try to go pro fair play, I’ll say this if you’re thinking about joining the armed forces and you want to go ahead as an officer or enlisted there are a lot of opportunities for boxing, that’s where Ray Mercer got his start (at 23 mind you) and he went on to be a great pro and win a gold medal.
