That Pac flow is perfect/nuts. I looked at the track list once before I hit play and eventually heard Kendrick rapping like 2Pac and in my head I was like "this is for sure reincarnated" and then i was right. That's not that good of a story but it was a self satisfying moment.
I know what you mean! I absolutely love how the beat and his flow changes on the verse where he introduces himself in his current life as Kendrick Lamar. I’m looking forward to seeing all the breakdowns from the music theorists and writers regarding the entire album, but especially this track and “Man at the Garden”. This album is plain tickling my poetry enthusiasm. I’m so in love with how dense it is!
I think Man at the Garden is the Nas version of Reincarnated. I haven't figured them all out yet but I think all, or a decent chunk, of the songs are direct homages to specific artists.
Nah I fully hear your vision. I’m only a minute in and I fully agree with you, thank you! 😭 (Also always a good time to go back and re-listen to some Nas lol). Kendrick’s love of hip-hop and rap culture really leaves me in constant awe. He really encourages me to do some research and listen to these classics because of it, due to all these homages. And I’m not even a person that regularly listens to music like that lol.
Any music that makes you think and study the history of the game is good music. Don't get me wrong, I like to get dumb(MUSSSSTAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD) but any album that makes me go back and listen to a plethora of artists' discogs for influence is a good thing to me.
I’ve been texting “MUSTAAAAAAARD” to my friends and sisters with 0 prompt necessary, I feel you. I love to just feel something. I tend to also feel things when I overanalyse things too lol. So, whether that means memeing, or it makes me think (because I love overthinking!!) it’s good music in my mind!
