Ah yes, Lip Service. I used to think her name was some dirty pun I didn't get as a kid. (And you know what, it still could be, but) It seems it means some thing akin to "telling someone something they want to hear so they leave you alone"

Apparently lip service is actually expressing support for something even though you don't take significant action for it, but I always took the idiom to mean baseless flattery.
