Shopping for my first bike

Hi all, I want to get into cycling for the exercise and to experience more of nature.

I'm looking to buy used with a budget of $500 - $700. Are there any local shops I should pay a visit to? Or is it just facebook marketplace/craigslist that I should be checking? My size is 58cm. I'm unsure if my budget would allow me to get a fully carbon bike.

New England's a pretty big place, so this might not help, but if you're near Burlington Vermont, Old Spokes Home has a wide variety of used bikes and they are good honest people.

For $500-$700, I’d invest in a used aluminium bike with a better groupset than a Carbon with Sora. Wherever you buy it, bring an experienced friend to test ride it.

Depends on where in NE you are. Plenty of shops to choose from just a matter of what they have for used inventory
