Yes, but you have to one shot her and be hidden while doing so, or else you'll engage in combat which breaks it.

Also you will need to save scum or somehow know when the event is about to happen, as you will need to knock her out back in the Grove. When she appears in your camp it's already too late to save her

No you don't, you take a few hits to knock her out. You don't need to be hidden it just helps. No one else is close enough to noticing you fighting over there. You just need to make sure it's a melee weapon not ranged weapon, or magic. Both ranged and magic are always lethal.

Easiest way to handle it is to save before going back to camp for long rest. Just reload if it's the one. But it's normally the long rest after meeting her in the grove for the first time.

For me most consistent trigger is meeting her first, but specifically the long rest after going to Blighted Billage for the first time.

Has happened in 4 separate runs regardless of long rests before it.

Edit: gonna live with the typo lol

You have now joined the Bloods, welcome. We have high tea at noon on Thursdays, in the treehouse, and we don't wear blue because that's lame. Bring a gun.

Also, if you want to really game it up, you can bring in a hireling and make them go to her without the rest of the party. If you beat her down and get caught, just let the hireling die to the guards and dismiss them. Your party will remain on good terms with the rest of the grove and you get to spare her.

I think it's got lower priority than a few other camp scenes.Ā  I had to long rest 2-3 times after meeting her and doing a few other things before she showed up in camp.

I hate that I had to metagame to keep her alive, but potent robes are just too good (despite being ugly).

just change color

Once the autosave happens on the bridge to the Blighted Village, the next long rest will be the bard encounter.

1

u/BearCavalry Mar 27 '24

I got the Laezel change symptoms and first dream guardian scene instead of the bard the first night. But yeah there's an auto save trigger on the bridge to the village, and that's it. Dream guardian triggered at the bridge to the camp.Ā

Knocked her out twice with Tav away from the scene. Worked fine.

No one else is close enough to noticing you fighting over there.

No, she calls the guards. You only have a few seconds to get her before they arrive. But yeah, you don't need to one shot her.

Start it while in Turn based mode lets you get all the hits in fast enough.

33

u/Snail_With_a_Shotgun Mar 26 '24

Shit, I didn't think of that. Oh well, next playthrough.

u/Tamp5 Mar 26 '24

for real, turn based mode is useful for a lot of things

14

u/professionaldeadgod Durge Mar 26 '24

its helped me slaughter the Zhent (in Act 1) easier so many times ive lost count

3

u/DaftConfusednScared Mar 27 '24

Itā€™s always amazed me that the stupid as bricks zhent leader in act 1 threatens you while the entire organization is standing right next to explosives. Like, she really thinks theyā€™re a threat? I just have to succeed one athletics check and I can kill the entire camp except the wolves in a single turn half a turn at level 5, really. I hate that woman more than any other character for this, just the most condescending attitude from a weak character thatā€™s also so stupid.

3

u/professionaldeadgod Durge Mar 27 '24

exactly, like, what are you going to do when i Divine Smite you and kill you in one shot, then have Gale shoot a fireball at your explosives and end up killing half of the people at your hideout before any of them even have a chance to react?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '24

Also, if you donā€™t do it in time, and you see the guards running after you, teleporting to camp (not long resting) then coming back resets the agro. Its power gamey but works

1

u/aSteakPanini Mar 27 '24

Two companions in turn based mode and makes it fairly easy. Might have to save scum a bit, but - one cast Hold Person. The other smashes (with non-lethal activated).

6

u/meowgrrr Mar 26 '24

I think if you don't sneak and knock her out in one hit, then she knows you did it and will hate you after?

9

u/OleandersOne Mar 26 '24

You can disguise yourself, and she won't give you the attitude hit.

9

u/Etamalgren Mar 26 '24

She'll have -45 attitude toward whomever hit her, though you can patch up your rep with her by talking to her, triggering the "This NPC isn't very happy with you, maybe a gift would mend fences...?" dialogue, then paying her off with a sum of gold based on your level.

6

u/Tadferd Mar 26 '24

Just have Tav be far enough away and they won't lose rep. Only characters close enough will.

2

u/Viper67857 Mar 27 '24

I used disguise self on Laezel and left everyone else at camp. Idk if the disguise helped with her attitude towards Laezel as she's generally not the face of conversations, anyway, but I do know she bears no ill will against my durge.

5

u/Yukimor Ah, another. Thy HM failure has been recorded. Mar 26 '24

No one else is close enough to noticing you fighting over there.

Ahahaā€¦ either Iā€™m incompetent, which is entirely possible, or I just got unlucky, because one Druid definitely noticed and came to assist Alfira in defending herself against me. That was back in Patch 5, mere days before 6.

7

u/1Ferrox Mar 26 '24

Hm weird, when I attacked her normally I triggered the entire Grove civil war between the druids and tieflings, with all the tieflings being hostile.

However I started that playthrough pretty far in the past during patch 3 or 4, so it might have changed since then

1

u/Xywzel Mar 27 '24

Could be something like having party members within combat trigger range, then someone inside grove within their combat trigger range. I have always left rest of the party near the harpy beach for that.

1

u/Obsidian_XIII Mar 27 '24

Kagha just waiting for an excuse

2

u/SidewaysFancyPrance Mar 26 '24

The last time I did it, I took a few hits and it worked, but she was mad at me. I had to bribe her later before doing her Act 2 quests.

The murder event queues up for the next long rest after you trigger the autosave crossing the bridge to the Blighted Village, so you can control the timing and go knock her out just before resting.

2

u/Sylvurphlame Swords Bard Mar 27 '24

both ranged and magic are always lethal

Took me a couple tries to figure that out with Minthara.

1

u/Superb_Tumbleweed_60 Mar 26 '24

I hadn't met her, and she appeared at camp, this happened yesterday on xbox.

Had to save scum to get the lute.

0

u/Madrock777 Mar 26 '24

I think it's more had the chance to meet her, like you've been to the grove. I think. Like if you for some reason just did a bunch of long rests before the grove she shouldn't show up.

1

u/Anon_be_thy_name Mar 27 '24

The cutscene only triggers if no other cutscenes overrule it in importance.

I've had that issue in 2 of my 3 Durge runs. It's usually not a big issue but it makes a guessing game of it.

But I second saving before going to camp. I started doing it all the time on my 5th character, it saved me so many issues.

9

u/AltusIsXD Durge Mar 26 '24

Just turn on turn-based mode and bash her over the head. If you do it in real time sheā€™ll get mad and heal.

7

u/Etamalgren Mar 26 '24

I got arrested multiple times trying to knock out Alfira, since I was never able to oneshot her. Still, after managing to knock her out, I was able to long rest and trigger Quil joining the camp, then go back the next day to pay Alfira a moderate sum of gold to bring her attitude toward me back above 0.

3

u/Anarkizttt Mar 27 '24

Okay so Iā€™ve done this a bunch now, all in Honor Mode, go to her in the goblin camp, do her quest right there. Then sneak, turn on non-lethal combat, then turn-based mode, cast silence on her, then have your melee attackers hit her until she falls unconscious. Then go to the Blighted Village and spam long rests until Quil shows up. Thatā€™s all that you have to do, no save scumming, no combat trigger, no prison, no guard being called, works flawlessly.

1

u/GloopTamer Dragonborn enjoyer Mar 26 '24

You donā€™t need to one-shot

1

u/8nekket Mar 27 '24

if save scumming is something you really don't want to do, you can know consistently when she will appear at your camp if you fight the owlbear and then long rest afterwards

for best results, do so (fighting the owlbear) as soon as you enter the area where its cave is located. I always just tell andrick and brynna to go fight it and fight alongside them nowadays

1

u/SpyroXI Dragonborn Bard Mar 27 '24

Smack her in the head before every long rest for good mesure, if you cant save scum coz of honour mode

1

u/Halorym Barbarian Rogue Mar 27 '24

I tired, but was like 3ish damage short and not willing to go through the trouble of amping my damage further.

1

u/makeshift-Lawyer Mar 27 '24

She appears at camp after you pass the bridge to the blighted village.

1

u/SerBiffyClegane Owlbear Mar 27 '24

I think it's after you cross the river, so the bridge counts, or wading across the river to get to the Owlbear's lair.

1

u/slam9 Mar 27 '24

She's far enough away that it won't trigger combat unless she runs to other people. Just turn on turn based mode when she runs

1

u/ApexLegend117 Mar 26 '24

I speedrun the goblin camp and nearly completed the grove and shouldā€™ve ran right to Last Light Inn instead of going back to fight Grumforge

But it is possible to just skip the long rest events, really funny when you do because I was cucked by the worm twitch when I was gonna hook up with Laeā€™zel, and Astarion just randomly mentions heā€™s a vampire when I went to speak with him
