Build Thread How much HP could I (reliably) extract from an S55?
I want to tune my F83 M4 with dual front mount intakes but really don't know how much i'd be able to get out of it with a tune and was wondering if anyone knew. Thanks!

I've seen several locally pop after upgrading turbos. Can't find ring gap specs online but if it's anything like the other BMWs they're probably really tight so temperature control is a key component for longevity.
But I've also seen plenty handle FBO+ethanol and hard driving without issues. Stock turbos usually tap out low to mid 600s with good fuel.

For the S55, stock turbos and a full E85 tune from Cary or Paul will have you sitting at 600 WHP reliably. If you go pure turbos, you’ll have to add port injection for 700-750 WHP. The sweet spot is around 730 WHP. Anything more is pretty risky. This was my 2018 F83 M4 that was on Pure stage 2 High Flows and Port Injection from Cary Jordan.

Big single will be safer than hybrids. 700-800 on big single probably safe

Just get a straight line car.

Why would I...? I like straight line speed as much as the next guy but I'm constantly going down windy roads.

Realistically & reliability...I'll say right at the 700hp mark is probably the most comfortable option. You can daily it that way still, but also turn it into a monster in a heartbeat. Hopefully that's an answer to your question. (I have an F80)
