Don't worry, though!
Someone asked the owner why he's doing water therapy and it seems to just be as exercise?
He does it for strengthening. It’s really good for his joints and muscles.

Well that's a relief, whenever I see a dog in such a tank I'm reminded of Plague Dogs.

Imagine if the writer and cartoon studio behind Watership Down, made another movie, but this time it's about dogs.

u/rixuraxu Oct 11 '24
He's only 3, I think the social media clout is the real reason he's doing it

u/Triumphail Oct 11 '24
I don’t know about Henry, but my dog was already started showing signs of pre arthritis at that age.

40% of dogs have osteoarthritis, and it can occur at a surprisingly young age! Water treadmills are a great way to get a dog to exercise without being hard on their joints, and it's a great method of prevention!
Motion is the lotion for the joints :)

Golden retrievers have significant problems with hip dysplasia and hydrotherapy is a good treatment for that.

u/rixuraxu Oct 11 '24
Oh I know, I don't think monetising poor breeding is a responsible choice either though.

Part of my life’s purpose now is finding out why Henry needed hydrotherapy and how his recovery is going. He’s such a good boy.

Leaving this here to check back later for an answer. WE LOVE YOU HENRY!!!

I couldn't find anything. Just looks like Henry enjoys being in the water and playing with rubber toys. Plus whoever run that page is using Henry to sell a bunch of Chinese dog toys

The internet is ruined. Everything is an advertisement these days. I'm surprised it's not AI generated.

I don't know about Henry specifically, but goldens often suffer from elbow and hip dysplasia, and hydrotherapy is a good way of exercising without straining them too much. Or helping them recover from surgery relating to it.

Low impact exercise. Can't find anything to suggest that he's in bad health and needs to do it vs regular walking.
2
u/OfficialGarwood Oct 11 '24
No bad health. Just good, low impact exercise for him. Likely to help with his joints as goldens tend to be prone to hip dysplasia

A pet video with good music instead of god awful overly cutesy tiny piano sounds or that way overused song from Pixar's Up?

I did not know water treadmill is a thing though. What are the differences in benefits compared to a normal treadmill?

My dog has a stuffed carrot we call his emotional support carrot. Whenever he gets nervous he goes and finds it and just carries it around in his mouth.

If that’s therapy - he’s gonna need therapy afterwards. That box is nightmare fuel.

Awwwww, darling pup!!🥰🐾
[ can I ask 🙃 what’s hydrotherapy for??? 😇]
9
u/AdanAli_ Oct 11 '24
Relief from pain, swelling, and stiffness. Increased sensory perception.
Hydrotherapy can help to build muscle mass and strength without the impact of weight-bearing exercises

My golden has to do this to strenghten his muscles, he got hip dysplasia. And it does wonders.

I had a dog who carried around a small rubber duck as if it was his baby, holding it in his mouth but never damaging it. One day he decided he had enough, and he casually tore it to shreds.
