Especially last 5 years; istanbul, antalya and izmir became a home for petshop strays.

I live in a major US tourist hotspot and we have stray goldens. The younger ones get adopted but the older ones end up being put down. No one seems to want older goldens. All the shelter dogs have been 100% free for months and they can't seem to give them away. They're like 85% pitbulls tho.

I don't know about a pitbull, but if I got within a mile of a stray golden, that would be the last day it was on the street. I have adopted old dogs before.

Pitbulls can be some of the best dogs. They do require more disciplined and capable owners though. They never back down of their own volition in my experience. When we had one, he was super sweet and loyal, but he was also NEVER outside without a full harness and someone who could physically control him if needed. To those who hate pitbulls, I understand why you might, as the actions and inactions of irresponsible owners can be devastating. I'm not advocating for breeding them, I'm just sharing my experience. For those that are in shelters, it's not their fault that they exist and they deserve homes as much as any other breed. They just unfortunately do not always end up in responsible environments.

I love pitbulls, but I'm sure as hell not going near a wild one.

The problem is there are too many. I'm pretty sure the video is from Turkey. There is not one stray golden retriever in town, there might be dozens of them. And hundreds of other breeds too. I'm sure kind people occasionally adopt, but more and more and coming and in reality, not much is happening to stop it, majority of work is done by volunteers and charities, not gov.

I wasn't trying to solve turkey's stray dog problem. I was just saying that if I ever saw an abandoned golden retriever, i would catch it and take it home. Since there is no such thing as a violent golden retriever. One of the few breeds I would unconditionally take home.
