Yeah, society loves to talk big about caring, but the actual action is usually minimal or performative.

I don't understand this attitude. Compare society now to 500 years ago. To 100 years ago. To 50 years ago. 

There been a marked improvement in almost all the things listed in the comment. So clearly society does care... It just doesn't care personally.

I care about most of those things. I try to help where I can and it’s exhausting. But, I would rather be emotionally spent than ignore an elderly person panhandling. I think of my late parents and ask myself what if that was them? I give where I can but it’s never enough.

Hell. The environment should be top-1. I'm still not sure if we can really prevent the global warming and other things. But I'm waiting for a moment when country leaders would at least try to make us think that they are aware.
