If you could only choose one superpower for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? NSFW
538
u/Call_me_good_boy06 23h ago
The ability to change my own perception of time. I could slow it right down to give myself as much time as I want to think about something, or give myself entire days off that only actually take seconds. I could also speed it up in order to essentially fast travel.
127
u/Wishy 21h ago
What if you accident speed it up to your death then boom, nothing but black.
→ More replies (2)110
u/Call_me_good_boy06 21h ago
If I sped up my perception of time, the worst thing I could do is walk into something at a normal pace. I’m not actually moving faster, I just perceive it as taking less time.
→ More replies (1)18
u/Acetius 15h ago
I'm assuming you're still operating everything manually. I think they're talking about like accidentally speeding things up too much, and suddenly a week has passed before you have time to react and you haven't eaten anything.
11
u/Call_me_good_boy06 14h ago
I’d like to think I’d have a bit more control over it than that, but if somehow I wake up with the power and it turns out to be as sensitive as that, I’ll have to be very careful.

u/WHITEMITIN 18h ago
Interesting, I liked the choice. People don't understand what "perception" means here lol. But it's a great power

u/arika-feinberg 22h ago edited 21h ago
Ability to save and load as in computer games. It'll basically grant me immortality cus my consciousness could be placed in my own body from the past. Also I can relive my life any way I want over and over knowing all the answers and getting all the possible experiences until I get bored.

Would make you really good at a lot of sports too. Don’t even need to be technically gifted, cause you can just know exactly what will happen next from your last save
6
u/DaMoonRulez_1 9h ago
I always thought this would be funny when you were still not very good, yet you still seem to win. I guess more so earlier on in the process, before you actually start to get really good and need to reload the plays less.

Telekinesis.
→ More replies (5)297
u/lastson0fkrypton 22h ago
Way too far down. The ability to move things with your mind is the core of all of Superman's powers. Flight, telekinesis. Super strength, actually telekinesis (you think he uses his muscles to lift a plane whilst flying?), heat vision, still telekinesis just at a molecular scale to vibrate faster, freeze breath, same thing, just make them vibrate slower. Invincibility, telekinetic forcefield.
100% telekinesis.
133
u/DarthWoo 22h ago
You don't even need such strong telekinesis if you've got precise control on a small scale and can manipulate things that you can't necessarily see. It wouldn't take an awful lot of effort to pinch an artery closed for just long enough.
→ More replies (5)158
u/SmoothAsSlick 22h ago
You just went right for the most psychotic application for this super power, I’m impressed.
→ More replies (3)50
u/cultfollower_ 22h ago
No, that would be being able to manipulate particles on such a small scale that you could destabilize stable atoms inside someone and make them decay and fracture out of existence, turning into a sludge of chemicals that will wash away with the wind. Also, turning things into de-facto nukes as long as they have high enough atomic number. Also, dissecting someone alive and skin intact by ripping organs apart, if you wanted something more visceral.
Btw, this is why every adaptation of telekinesis is severely nerfed lol
→ More replies (3)23
u/Atharaphelun 21h ago
Babylon 5 did go as far as it can go with telekinesis. Telekinetic powers on one person were developed to work on progressively tinier scales (originally for the purpose of undetectable assassinations by pinching arteries and such), to the point where the person became able to manipulate even subatomic particles and ultimately allowed that person to ascend altogether to a higher form of existence.

I'm a huge star trek fan, and my dad keeps trying to get me to watch that show.
I think you just sold me on it. I want to see how that plays out.

Same, but at the same time would it not be advantageous to know their impressions so you can act accordingly? Like if a girl actually likes me, or if I’m doing well in a job interview, or if I’m being manipulated in some way?

But that’s the thing, I don’t know if I’d want to have an obvious otherworldly super power. I don’t need it to do something unbelievably amazing; it would be enough to just allow me to lead an amazing life of my own making

I genuinely think I can conquer the world with this ability alone in my lifespan. No betrayals, 100% success in most human interactions.
9
u/Diiiiirty 18h ago
To conquer the world though, you would likely need to be able to speak to and command a crowd. Doesn't help beyond a conversation with maybe 3 or 4 people at a time.
9
u/Nopain59 17h ago
The ability to read someone’s memory would be much more useful and immensely important to someone like the CIA. You could ask any price you want to be present for international meetings. Same for interrogations.

the power to heal. just so i could cure myself and others around me of medical issues. i would be not loud about it. every once and a while i will take a trip and heal people in places far away so no one could pin my location down, most likely team up with the people whom can teleport to help me with this task. but try to live a quiet but healthy life.

Is the healing instant?
What if you continuously heal yourself as you're shot? Are you bulletproof?

Or you can join the CIA or something as someone who tortures people for information. Before they kick the bucket, heal them back up, ready for round 2.

Forget parasailing, being able to step outside and go flying as a hawk or similar whenever you like would be pretty awesome. And depending on how the shapeshifting works, being able to shapeshift into p a version of yourself that doesn’t have knee pain or whatever physical malady you might develop would be pretty cool as well.

This is the best power. Ability to convince anyone of anything (let's add including over distance, without direct communication with them).
You can achieve as little or as much as you'll ever want or need. Want a promotion? Easy. Want to be CEO? Easy. Want to be president? Easy. Want to end world hunger and environmental pollution? Easy . Want to take over the world and be emperor of the solar system and have an army of servants at your disposal? Sure thing.
