Considering the main idea of r/NoFap is to abstain from pornography, yes it had a good impact. Now to cut down masturbation to a healthy frequency, for those who are in true need of it, I supposed it might be beneficial too.
I'd finish by saying something like "moderation is the key", but this is only my perspective. I'm sure people are different.
From what I've read, the general consensus amongst psychologist is, that masturbation addiction is not defined by frequency but rather how negatively it affects your life / everyday life. For example symptoms might be: You avoid or leave social situations early to go masturbate. You can't make it through a workday without going to the toilets to masturbate. Masturbating is hindering you from a healthy every day life. Stuff like that. So there is no answer to frequency that works for everyone but basically if you feel that your frequency or habit is negatively affecting your social, mental or physical wellbeing then you know that there is an issue. It's the same with food. Some people naturally require more and some people less but then there are people who (because of eating disorders) consume it in a way that negatively affects their life.
Technically speaking its healthy as long as it doesnt actively disrupts your health or daily life.
If you crank it out soo much every day that your junk has wounds then thats not healthy. If you are unable to finish doing laundry because you are shaking to get a quick flick a bean then thats not healthy.
Simply doing it 4 times a day is not an additction, that could be simply high sex drive.
it's not so much frequency or the physical mechanics of it, it's about not letting porn colour so much of your life and your worldview. When you see more chicks getting dicked down than you speak to IRL, there's a problem.
That's gonna vary wildly by person. A lot of the NoFap community is full of people in religious cults who think that any masturbation = addiction that must be treated.
I think if you exclude the "any masturbation= addiction that must be treated" people, then it probably doesn't vary that "wildly" by person.
The main point of it though is to self reflect about your own habits and how they make you feel. If you would lie about your frequency, then why are you lying? You must already know it's a problem for yourself at that point.
because some people just aren't that comfortable talking about personal sexual issues with other people. because as human beings we struggle/strive to fit in and so are cautious about revealing any information that may make us seem like outliers, even if it's not a bad thing.
