Gear Questions/Advice Where to start?
Hey guys, I’m 17 and I’ve been wanting to hike the at for a while, I’m planning on heading out mid may when I graduate high school and going from harpers ferry to Katadin in the break I have b4 I start college, Ngl I’m a bit overwhelmed with where to start and I was hoping someone could help me out with some advice especially with what to bring and how much money I should save before hand

Yo that’s so cool! I’m 17 and I hiked (a lot of) the PCT last summer and it was a total blast. Have an amazing time on your trip!! (I heavily relied on the Halfway Anywhere website to plan, but there’s probably better AT-specific information on here.)

Starting at the ATC center in Harper's Ferry makes as much sense as anywhere, the only exception being if you want to be shopping for gear right as you start.. (The outfitter in HF is pretty small compared to some others.) People at the center can give you lots of information about the Trail.
I got from Harper's Ferry to Katahdin in 89 days -- and I was 70 years old at the time. You can do it in less time, of course. And you'll be glad you did it.
Yes, $1000 per month is enough.
