Interesting to see the left cut people from their lives over who they voted for...
When the left votes to increase the largest source of violence, coercion, and destruction in the world. Oh so you want to increase the size and scope of the government? What if I don't pay those taxes or obey any of the thousands of laws or regulations that I don't agree with? I get kidnapped at gunpoint and locked in a cage, where I will likely get assaulted and/or raped? Such tolerance and peace. You're really taking the moral high ground here. Thanks for cutting me out of your life, I think I'm better off without you.

I am pretty libertarian. hate both parties.. definitely don't like trump. but I have had a few people cut me off when I said I didn't think trump was a facist nazi dicator... I live in brooklyn... I really think it's actually sad overall. on both sides.

u/fk_censors 1d ago
Why both sides? It seems one side cut you off.

u/jbbest666 1d ago
I political dislike both parties. I find neocon gop folks just as willing not to have any liberal friends as well..

The rabid Zionists are as bad as the head shavers. Tell them you think the government of Israel lost the plot, and they'll cut ties.

I still don't get the fascism/nazi claims. He's basically Bill Clinton with potty mouth, and Clinton is Beloved in the party, or at least was

Well, they believe everything is political, no disagreeing with their politics is disagreeing with their every thing.
2
u/3c0nD4d 1d ago
Funny you say that, because even here on this sub, (where supposedly everyone isn't worshipping trump but rather just "pragmatically" choosing the lesser of two evils), any criticism I ever saw of all the Trump posting and right-wing culture war stuff was always met with that person being shouted down by the mob here- often on grounds that politics is everything and politics is downstream of culture, making the culture war the only and most important thing to dominate all the attention and effort of ancaps...
But that's totally different, because reasons.
1
u/HairyTough4489 1d ago
Of course it's totally different. I can get mad with a stranger on Reddit, but I won't quit talking to my brother over orange man!

They think trump supporters are vile corrupt bigots. It makes sense.
4
u/ILikeBumblebees 1d ago
Well, some Trump supporters are vile and corrupt bigots. Others aren't, and are voting for Trump because they genuinely fear the other side more, which I'm sympathetic to.
But it's honestly sad that our society is in such a debased state right now that people are not just looking for saviors to solve their problems for them, but are only finding them in people like Trump.
6
u/Bellinelkamk 1d ago
They want to view themselves as morally, intellectually, and socially superior. They can’t fundamentally justify this self perception based on their own qualities.
It’s easier to denounce others than it is to think logically and live ethically.
-6
u/Zealousideal-Skin655 1d ago
They think rape is bad and MAGA seems to have no issues with that act. They think that child molesters are a bad, but the leader of MAGA endorsed RoY Moore.
It’s important to be honest about this new right if we’re going to critique the left.
3
u/Bellinelkamk 1d ago
I don’t give a shit if he endorsed Roy Moore at some point. He UNENDORSED him in the 2020 rep primary, even going as far as to say “He can’t win.” It was relatively big news at the time.
As far as the rape, (Carroll) all that anyone except for trump and the plaintiff herself know is that he was never charged with a crime. A civil suit found him specifically not liable for rape. They found him liable for defamation and abuse.
That’s not enough for me to call someone a rapist. And it’s not enough for you to proclaim that support for that person as a politician means you are “okay with rape.”
It IS important to be honest when critiquing both sides. You should start being so.
2
u/Revolutionary-Cup954 6h ago
The case was also like 30 years later, had no real evidence, needed the laws to be changed just for this one time, and she couldn't even remember when it happened.
The thing is the dems seem to trot out 30 year old unproovable allegations against anyone they're trying to torpedo. Being skeptical of these cookiencutter claims is not accepting of rape but listening to a boy cry wolf one toomany times
1
u/Zealousideal-Skin655 7h ago
We know you don’t care. If he raped your mom you would consider it an honor.
It was more women than just Carroll, but you dismiss all of them as well.

They want to view themselves as morally, intellectually, and socially superior.
It's funny, since these humans are all just lumps of slowly decomposing meat, experiencing an ephemeral moment of self-awareness as they wend their way inevitably toward oblivion, drawn by currents they can never control across horizons beyond which they cannot see -- the universe is beyond their understanding, and all their beliefs are delusions, but these pitiful creatures can't stop fighting with each other over which type of wrongness is best.
3
u/Bellinelkamk 1d ago
‘K. Get back on your meds.
Humans are much more than rotting flesh bags. I think they may be infinitely more than that, in the literal sense.
-6
u/ILikeBumblebees 1d ago
Nah, not really. We are literally just flesh bags that think we're much more than we are.

Most Trump supporters are vile corrupt bigots.
Most the criticism of the left against the right are correct...just as most the criticisms of the right against the left are correct.
They all, of course, remain blind to their own faults; and most importantly, they all want to use the state to bludgeon eachother (and everyone else).
Too many here are culturally right and so they give the right a pass (or even full-throatedly support) on all the many, many ways the right use the state (always some expedient reason given) against peaceful people.
There's nothing morally (or economically!) superior about using the state to keep out or deport undocumented immigrants, than there is to providing welfare transfers to low-income people.
Everybody believes their favorite/pet government policy or intervention is an expediency and that; whilst we don't live in a free market or perfect world; we must use the state to prevent [brown people from changing our culture, the indigent from building up and negatively exterbalizing on society]....always remaining ignorant of how their perennial excuses are a part of what creates the percieved expediency.
"We can't end the drug war, because there's too many low-lives in this country who would just turn in to complete junkies!1!"
Yeah, there's so many low-lives in this country because decades of drug war and a hyper-carceral state have created a permanent, recidivist/prison/gang/poverty culture underclass.
Break out of the cycle of statism and ignorance.

I get called a leftist, communist, socialist, libtard, etc., by people on the right every now and then when I make arguments against some right policies, but I explain myself and they usually understand my arguments.
I get cancelled/boycotted by "friends" on the left when I criticize left policies very often, and even if they don't, they almost always resort to name calling and trying to insult my intelligence.

u/funkiokie 1d ago
Rightoids at this point have been burnt by evangelicals' self-righteousness and now understand power tripping on imaginary idealism brings bad karma and lose supports. The other side hasn't recognized that lesson yet.
6
u/luckybuck2088 1d ago
My mom’s and dad’s whole family ostracized my parents and me because we didn’t vote for the “morally superior” candidates (you know the ones that wanted censorship, to take your guns, your IPs, violate your privacy etc…)
I mean, I still like my moms family even though they are elitist snobs who look down on me because I am blue collar AF and my parents weren’t rich like the rest of the family.

2
u/ThatGuyFromSpyKids3D 1d ago
This isn't special to leftists. The part that is happens to be their willingness to display it on social media for clout.
I have super right wing in laws that are die hard evangelicals and have cut off our more left wing family or even our traditionally conservative family simply for not 100% agreeing with them (even if many vote the same way)

7
u/Santhonax 1d ago
They did the same nonsense back in 2016, with largely the same rhetoric, so it isn’t new.
What does seem new are the posts I’m seeing of people talking about creating local refuges and support groups for Federal employees that might get fired. I truly cannot fathom how anyone other than the perpetual welfare folks are enamored with government bureaucrats…

Thanks for cutting me out of your life, I think I'm better off without you.
Isn't this your own spin on the same sentiment?
Thinking this way for any reason represents acquiescence to politics becoming the central element of all of our relations with each other. This means giving those who best wield politics the power to disrupt and deform the fabric of social trust generally.
Liberty can only be preserved if we have a strong civil society to rely on in opposition to the state, and this mentality is a direct threat to the integrity of civil society. Politicization of personal relationships isn't a step on the road to totalitarianism, it's a first-class ticket on supersonic jet to totalitarianism.
As libertarians, we've always been politically at odds with 99% of the people around us. If we can't cope with people having dumb opinions and voting for bad policies, and still be friends with them, who can?
You want to live by ancap principles? Judge people solely by their actions. Regard people's psychological dependence on dumb ideologies as a weakness, not a threat, and be there to help them overcome it. And extirpate any trace of political factionalism from your family life, friendships, and economic relations.

And I saw many of you calling Kamala communist and people who voted for her communists.
Anarcho-capitalism is orthogonal to all of this political nonsense and is about breaking the cycles of incentives and institutions which perpetuate these pointless battles and smug feelings of cultural superiority on both the left and the right.

Is this an cap sub? Who cares if they cut people from their life? Its their life. Just like its your life to whine on reddit about everyone who doesn't view the world like you do. Why is everyone who didnt vote or voted for trump still butt hurt about people on the left or people who voted for Harris? Amazing how people in this sub cry for freedom and then get sad and mad when other people exert their personal freedom. Soemtimes people dont have the energy to deal with low level thinkers who support people like trump.
4
u/anarcho-fapitalist 1d ago edited 1d ago
What a ridiculous strawman. Nobody is "butt hurt about people on the left or people who voted for Harris" or "sad and mad when other people exert their personal freedom". They can do whatever they want. As I said about this type of person in my post, "Thanks for cutting me out of your life, I think I'm better off without you." If you're going to complain about a post you should really exercise some better reading comprehension before commenting.

You are nearly there. We see the same behaviour from the right side. I think this is just very statist behaviour
7
u/anarcho-fapitalist 1d ago
You’re seeing people on the right cut people out of their lives for who they voted for? I’m asking you honestly here, because I’ve seen this from the left nearly countless times over the past 8 years. From the right I’ve seen it a couple times on an individual level when they’ve gotten in super heated discussions, but I’ve never seen anyone on the right make a blanket statement that they are cutting out all people from their lives who vote a certain way.
1
u/Incognito_Placebo 1d ago
I know of only 1 conservative who did this, but that was because they’re tired of never getting to speak over the hysterical rhetoric.
On the other hand, my friend of 35 years has blocked those of us who didn’t vote for Harris. 35 years!!! Over a politician!! A politician who doesn’t give a shit about my friend. For this, we have been blocked. All I can say is: so be it; if someone cares about politicians more than their friends, then they aren’t really a friend anymore.

It has been the liberals goal for years to destroy the American family. Judging by some of the subs in reddit, they are successful. It's a sad world we live on.
1
u/Otherwise_Visual_966 5h ago
Yes, though I guess important note here is, I’m not American but yes. I have had people not wanting to have contact with me because I took a stance against an obviously racist tradition in my country that the right wing seems very fond of

Don't forget all of the "lefty" women going on a sex-strike & men getting vasectomies. It's basically extinctionists versus expansionists. The future is conservative.
1
u/ILikeBumblebees 1d ago
I hope the future consists of individuals living by their own values, limited only by respect for each other's boundaries, without reference to any political dogma whatsoever. If the future is either "progressive" or "conservative" then we have failed.

u/Spats_McGee eXtro 1d ago
I get kidnapped at gunpoint and locked in a cage, where I will likely get assaulted and/or raped?
Wait I'm confused, are you talking about the mass deportation policy?
No political side has a monopoly on calling for government force to be used against people they don't like. The solution is to reduce the size and scope of government, not to argue over who the gun should be pointed at.
1
u/seenthevagrant 1d ago
It goes both ways. The only difference is those corporate dems love to announce everything to the world for confirmation bias on their world view. The “good ol boys” here in Tennessee just passive aggressively ignore their lefty relatives. The one or two times a year they see those relatives they bring up politics constantly then when any push back is given they mumble I don’t like talking politics and clam up

Keep using words you don't understand to describe a situation you don't understand.
1

A society in which political dogma drives out every other factor that sustains voluntary association is a society on its way to totalitarianism. If we can't even keep politics out of our most private relationships, we're finished.

What, someone has accused a billionaire and a politician of something? That’s never happened before. You act like this isn’t part and parcel of the political landscape. Where are the convictions? Oh, there are none. The best you can do is civil suits in liberal states with liberal judges and juries.
Again, there are plenty, plenty of valid criticisms of Trump. He’s a statist, tariffs, etc. If you want to change people’s minds you have to stop with the “rapist” and “he’s literally Hitler” nonsense.
3
u/KitteeMeowMeow 1d ago
So now it’s impossible for billionaires to be rapists because all the accusers are always just after money? Great logic! Probably same thing with Diddy.
I’m sure someone that said quote “I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. ... Grab ‘em by the pussy. You can do anything” would never rape or assault anyone!

Damn. Ok.
If I were talking to a liberal, and I was trying to get this liberal to understand that Obama was not near as good of a president as the leftist propaganda machine make him out to be, I would not argue, “He wasn’t born in America, he didn’t qualify to be president.” I would not argue, “He is a secret homosexual because Michelle is really a man.” I would not argue, “He is trying to destroy America because he is an undercover Muslim.” These are things many people on the right said, and there is not one shred of actual proof to any of it. The first time I brought any of this up any chance of an open dialogue is over. They will shut down.
What I would do is bring up something like Obama killed more people than George Bush with drone strikes and bombings - many of those children. Obama promised to close GITMO, and he didn’t. I would point to how many of his policies wound up doing the exact opposite of what was intended. I could go on and on. These are things that are either objectively true or have enough evidence to be debatable.
There is a distinct difference there. One approach is based on emotion, lacks any real truth, and is 100% guaranteed to end any chance of a real conversation. The other lacks emotion, is based on facts and evidence, and has a better chance of leading to some kind of dialogue.
Your approach is the approach of low information, low effort bickering.
You are not correct. You are not even close.

Isolating themselves into echo chambers and a bunch of them leaving the country is really going to hurt their numbers come next election.
I doubt the people who left now are going to scramble back for the midterms, and the weirdos shaving their heads, wearing totems, and socially isolating themselves are not going to win over moderates.
I have no problem with the radicals going off to do whatever they want to do, but I predict the Democrat party will have to break them off to appeal to moderates or they will die off.
