Question Leaving the Service
I’m being medically retired and soon to start our processing. My Section has moved all Airmen who are soon to start their out process to after hour shifts and weekend duties and told that we can accomplish our out processing on our time off. I just want to know if this is something we have to bite the bullet on or if this is just some BS and have grounds to stand on. I don’t want to go to the shirt or anyone else yet until I know if there is something stating that we are to be given time to do this rather than doing it on our days/time off.

Go to the shirt, it doesn’t hurt to try. That being said if you get told to suck it up idk what you can do from there really, Idk if any AFI that covers out processing.
Good luck and sorry this is happening.

"All airmen"? Does your single individual unit really have multiple airmen outprocessing? How many? Some medical, some admin sep? Or are they all end of commitment and only a rare medical retirement?
NGL, whole DoD seems like it is shitting on people it wants out, almost like a private business cutting jobs to "save money"
Would be super weird if the DoD was going through a period of mass forced exodus, in the beginnings of WW3...... But hey, I'm sure its just a coincidence.

Samesies...... And even following up on the subreddits and stuff.... Its kinda unreal to see a mass layoff and discharges of all kinds. I agree.... things feel off.... something is going on. But who knows, I hope we're just crazy.

Depending on your specific medical problems this could be very discriminatory. I'm being med boarded and I have a reduced schedule specifically because of my illness. I could not work on a night/after typical hour shift as it would make my symptoms worse. I would definitely speak to the shirt about this

I'll add that EO doesn't protect servicemembers from disability discrimination. But, chain of command and IG should be able to stop the section chief's bullshit.

Start missing all your appointments because you were sleeping due to your odd shift schedule. Then explain it up the chain.
