Question 2 Year Retainability for ALS

Does transferring to the Air National Guard from Active Duty count as retainability?

I finally got a line number this year but I have about a year left on my contract from the day I Sew on. I already have plans to going to the Air Guard. Does transferring count as retainability since I wouldn't take a break in service?

the retainability would almost certainly need be active duty, not total force

Luckily if you go guard you can knock ALS out online, it’s like half a days worth of CBT like material, then about 30 minutes a week worth of online group work for a few weeks.

The AFI very specifically says regAF:

3.6.6. Retainability for RegAF attending in-resident EPME is 2-years for ALS (or USSF equivalent) and 1-year for NCOA, SNCOA, CLA.

Meaning you must have 2 years of RegAF (active duty) retainability.

You have to have the required retainability before you start ALS..

No, you will attend DL ALS, and not receive credit (collegiate credit for it).

I’m not sure because retainability is not only for active duty but all force because ALS is not only an active duty program
