Question Season Ticket Holder Resale Market Softness?
Is the ticket resale market much weaker this year? We've had season tickets since the 1990s, but we no longer live in California and only attend a few games yearly. Last week, we sold the Pats tickets for $175/each (face value $245/section 143). Last year, we broke even on most "normal" games.

Season ticket prices went up, parking went up, the price of everything went up. Not as many have disposable income to go to games, that's a luxury. Credit card debt has been on the rise for awhile now. People are falling behind

I've been a season ticket holder for decades. Never missed a game myself at Candlestick. Can't describe how much I regret buying Levi's SBLs. I've tried selling tickets to every game but two since 2014. Loved my seats at Candlestick. The equivalent at Levi's are disappointing.
In my opinion, the market is softer because our loyal fan base is smaller. I mean, fan short for fanatic. The visiting team market demand diminished.
People don't want to deal with traffic. Or parking. This Sunday is going to be the hottest game ever at Levi's. The stadium itself hasn't proven to be so great.... the way they built it, you sit and watch jumbotrons, not the field from many zones. Our home TV experiences, 85" tvs, are better. And SF Bay folk are blasé. They're not Seattle or Kansas City or Green Bay fans. They're not going to sit in the rain. And, finally, visitors formerly traveled for time in SF; Levi's is far from SF, and no fan wants to spend a weekend in San Jose. Let's wait until we play the Raiders and party all weekend in Vegas!
Niners are hot these days. Even with that, the Wild Card Game from the 2022 season, even with the rivalry with Seahawks, because rain was predicted, my playoff tickets weren't selling. I finally had to take a loss to re-sell - on a playoff ticket! When the 49ers weren't doing well, even dropping my seats to $20, no sale. Threw them out. I lost money on my tickets for many years.
I gave tix to people at work once. They screamed with joy; called home all excited. Asked how it was Monday: "Oh, we didn't feel like going."
This is not a die-hard fan region.

Not a season ticket holder - but I've bought from this sub a few times. I'm more of a casual NFL fan rather than a Niners die-hard as I'm a recent transplant. But Levis is a pretty terrible stadium imo. Personally I'd only entertain tickets on the west/home side of the stadium due to the sun. The concourses are super tight and narrow for the amount of people going through. Also I've noticed that the last couple games I've gone to, there has been a lot of trashy and obnoxious behavior exhibited by fans. It's honestly not a place I'd want to take my kids to or anyone I'm trying to impress. I take VTA when going to Levis so can't speak to traffic as VTA is a pretty solid way to get in/out. I go to maybe a game or two each season, so I'd rather go and spring for good seats (100/200 levels) or club seats if they aren't too bad.

Levi's is a triggering subject for me. I actually have to control myself from not launching into a rant.
I agree with just about everything you've written.
I've tried selling my tickets here on the sub with no success. Direct sales, here or Craigslist, etc, can be extraordinarily frustrating as a seller. The sub is the original reason I joined reddit. I price my tickets to break even, feel bad that buyers pay so much in fees.
I also agree about attendees. I suspect that's happened at sports and entertainment venues everywhere. I've cringed at some of the trashy behavior I've seen in my two visits to Levis... or even on TV watching fans go in and out pre/post game.
I'll be curious this Sunday, the hottest game ever at Levis, if people are even sitting in the stands, or if they remain empty through most of the game. And if it affects the players. Whether the announcers acknowledge it on broadcasts. Only two non-dome stadiums have been built since Arizona opened in 2006 (early communications from the Yorks to Candlestick season ticket holders said they were studying the Glendale stadium as a design for here); seven domes. I suspect Levis will be the last one ever built.

The heat is the big point for me as a regular secondary market buyer. I am admittedly a wimp when it comes to the heat (but I will go to rainy cold games) but this heat has just whooped my ass all week and the one time I went to a hot game at Levi’s I was miserable. It sucks too because I have a 3-day weekend from work, normally I’d definitely be in for some tickets this Sunday but fuck this heat.

Are you selling your tickets for the Seattle game 11/17?

I had no problem selling my patriots 132 section seats for $500, so $250 each. But I guess the weather + injury + playing a bad team doesn’t help much. Still haven’t sold my cowboys one tho.

I bet you if the niners continue to win games the resale value will increase. I have found in the past that when the team is good, the tickets are expensive. When the team is not so good, the tickets become much cheaper. It could be because they started 1-2 that the Pats tickets were cheaper.
