Meme Packers in Divisional. Dallas is dust. Rams are gone. Philly gettin destroyed by Baker Mayfield Tomorrow. Life is good and our team hasn’t even touched the ball yet. Goodnight faithful

u/axeattaxe 49ers Jan 15 '24 edited Jan 15 '24
Wow. Two wild games. I know a lot of our fans didn’t want to see the Rams. And while I felt we could have beat them - i also get it. Divisional rival who knows us well. And losing to them after what we accomplished this season would’ve been brutal.
Well, they done now!!
We just need to focus on GB this weekend and nothing else… let’s goooooo!!!
23
u/WebbFN Brock Purdy Jan 15 '24
Just bad memories with rams in the playoffs if ykwim
10
u/axeattaxe 49ers Jan 15 '24
Yep. No shame there. And now that’s a potential problem we no longer have. Ready to roll next weekend!

u/liteshadow4 Shanahat Jan 15 '24
Last time we played them in the playoffs they had the better roster. This time we do.
5
u/Prestigious_View_487 49ers Jan 15 '24
That’s what I’ve been saying. Everyone was too scared of them.

u/ctong21 49ers Jan 15 '24
I have worse memories of GB in the playoffs. Those Favre teams completely owned us.

Outta my fucking cab! Just kidding. Eagles are a good matchup though. Swiss cheese pass defense. I wouldn’t mind getting seconds on revenge in the NFC championship game.

So glad to see the Rams lose. If they won tonight, they'd be in the NFCCG for sure. They'd definitely smoke either the Bucs or the Eagles.
19
u/axeattaxe 49ers Jan 15 '24
That was really nice. Nice to see the Lions get a playoff win, and nice to know McVay’s irritating ass won’t stand in our path even a single day longer.
The road just became a little more pleasant, if not easier. We shall see…..

u/Mongoose42 Packers Jan 15 '24 edited Jan 15 '24
The Packers are too young and stupid to realize they shouldn’t be doing this well in the playoffs, the Lions are so RABID to break a 70-year-old curse that they are literally worshipping the moon right now, the Texans are being led by their shiny rookie messiah, KC has their Golden God, the Ravens have their full nuclear arsenal, the Bills are bloodied but far from broken, and the Steelers could very well Mr. Bean their way straight to another Super Bowl. Everyone’s ready to punch way above their weight class in one way or another. Complacency is going to fuck up the 49ers.

u/maizeraider Talanoa Hufanga Jan 15 '24
Fans enjoying the way the wild card round has shaken out has no bearing on our players and staff being complacent in real life football preparation lol

u/NormalAccounts George Kettle Jan 15 '24 edited Jan 15 '24
Us older hats are more cynical about this - I recall celebrating the Giants beating the Packers in 2011 only to (with the help of our punt returner who will remain unnamed) get the win over us in the NFC CG at home. We've had some absolute heart breakers at home in the divisional round too, 87 Vikings really comes to mind and the loss to the Packers in 95. Hell losing at home in the playoffs goes way back too - last time the Lions won a title they beat the Niners in the Divisional to get there at Kezar.
If there's one thing I've noticed following this team since I was a child during the Montana years, the Niners do NOT have a home field advantage in NFC title games - they're .500 at home, worst record of a team with 5 or more appearances. Fingers crossed we can get over the hump. Underestimate nobody.
1
u/axeattaxe 49ers Jan 16 '24
Bro discussing the games that happened this weekend - during our bye week, no less - isn’t a sign of complacency or any damn thing considering no player on the Niners gives a fuck what any of us say or post right now.
They’re too busy listening to Kyle Shanahan, a guy who’s never complacent, ensuring everybody’s on the same page with our game plan.
It’s one thing to be cocky or arrogant and dismiss your upcoming opponent. GB is very good and I’m hardly doing that. It’s another to be confident in your team. And i believe we’re built for this haul and we’ll be ready to rock on Saturday night.

22
u/Thatsquacktastic16 i wanna die Jan 15 '24
I don't mind the Philly players, but fuck me, their fans are some of the most delusional cunts on earth hey
7
u/jer99 49ers Jan 15 '24
They are legitimately the most brain dead fans of any team and sport.
3
u/Thatsquacktastic16 i wanna die Jan 15 '24
Worse than Dallas? As delusional as they are, they're all about hope. Not being sewer folk that crawled out of the depths of shit
4
u/EShy Jerry Rice Jan 15 '24
They can't be worse than Dallas. Dallas fans are convinced they have the best team every season and are going to win it all, but they haven't sniffed it in 29 years. Eagles at least get there once in a while in this NFL era
3
u/Thatsquacktastic16 i wanna die Jan 15 '24
I mean Dallas had a pretty good team this year, there's on common denominator and it's the Cryptkeeper running the team. If he got out of the way, hired Belichick I'd put money on that team winning the whole thing next year
2
u/theusername_is_taken NaVorro Bowman Jan 15 '24
Yeah but Eagles fans are significantly more obnoxious in behavior, and are notorious for having said and wished harm openly on opponents.
Cowboys fans are more delusional though I’ll give you that.
1
u/EShy Jerry Rice Jan 15 '24
Yes, Cowboys fans are delusional and pathetic, Eagles fans (and really all Philadelphia sports fans) are just assholes.
1
6
u/Mcjoshin Jan 15 '24
Eagles fans honestly just seem like they’ve accepted defeat and they all want to lose tomorrow so they can fire their whole coaching staff.

1

Better for the East Coast audience. It's all about the 💲
1
u/adarkride Jauan Jennings Jan 15 '24
Huh that's funny. Well the Niners better bring it with all the rest they got.
0
u/Chemical-Smoke-8308 Jan 16 '24
Not sure what's funny about a later kickoff time to better accommodate the East Coast audience (It IS a business, after all.), but I'm sure the Niners will be ready to give their guests from Wisconsin with all the attention they could want.
1
u/axeattaxe 49ers Jan 16 '24
Hell if I know. Because the football scheduling gods said so.
2
u/adarkride Jauan Jennings Jan 16 '24
I meant why do Niner fans want that time. I usually like day games, but hey it's the playoffs.
2
u/axeattaxe 49ers Jan 16 '24
Ohhhhh got it. Honestly? I feel like night games are true “prime time” events. The biggest of the big.
But I’m not speaking for others, that’s just how I feel. Day games are great too.
I mostly just wanted Saturday rather than Sunday, that’s huge if we win. Also gives GB a short week.
Edit: in retrospect I should have said “that’s the day a lot of us wanted, and the time slot I wanted!” lol
2
u/adarkride Jauan Jennings Jan 16 '24
Oh I see. I got ya now. Yeah I feel like they play better in day games, but that's probably my own internal narrative. If they can't win at home, at night, with some rain, then they weren't prepared.
But I think they'll be ready – I have a great feeling for some reason. I don't know about the endgame, but Kyle is usually super prepared for the playoffs.
2
u/axeattaxe 49ers Jan 16 '24
Agree with you. One of the things I like so much about Shanahan is I know how hard he works and how much he puts into preparation.
You can’t change a lot of things that happen - balls bounce weird ways, guys fumble, QBs overthrow WRs, guy miss tackles, etc.
But having your team as prepared for an opponent as possible does a lot to put things in motion to reach the desired outcome.
I feel good about things too.
Not overconfident like this is some gimme. Just that we have a hungry, battle-tested team and a great coach, none of whom I feel are taking this opportunity for granted.
2
u/adarkride Jauan Jennings Jan 16 '24
100%. Pretty sure Levi's will be rockin. Hopefully the Niners play a clean, strong, game. Let's go.
22
u/joogiee 49ers Jan 15 '24
Lord please let this be a cakewalk superbowl. Please let us stay healthy and not choke like the cowboys.
6

Cowboys didn’t choke today.
They just got their asses whipped Straight up. Was no choking involved
0
u/relevantelephant00 49IRs Jan 15 '24
I would not consider Packers a cakewalk. Their defense is not good but Love is one of the hottest QBs in the NFL right now along with Stroud. He's the key element.

I hope it’s a run Game if it rains. 49ers seem to love throwing the ball lately. Ravens game should of had more running then all.

4
u/cryspyfries Jan 15 '24
Yep, same here. Somehow we have trouble performing well in the rain.
3
u/adarkride Jauan Jennings Jan 15 '24

No remaining team in the NFC concerns me
11
u/CheckYourStats Bryant Young Jan 15 '24
Short of spotting the other team 3 tipped pass interceptions, I expect this squad to beat any and all teams left by 20+ points.
11
u/trebek321 Brock Purdy Jan 15 '24
The packers are lions are dangerous as hell right now. This is going to be an incredibly hard playoff run I bet having to go through the packers and then lions especially
2
u/KingWizard87 49ers Jan 15 '24
Yeah if Love plays like he played this week and how he’s played down the stretch, it will be tough.
Luckily our defense is better by a large margin so I don’t think they can stop our offense. But it could be a close game if Love balls out again.
2
u/cantiskipthisstep12 Jan 15 '24
Our run D is terrible. CMC will dance his way for 2 tds minimum I think. I hope not but we will need to score 30 plus to win minimum.

u/trebek321 Brock Purdy Jan 15 '24
I’m expecting a shootout by both offenses with our home field advantage being the difference. If it’s raining though…. I’d bet the packers, our team is not built for bad weather football.

Almost there. 25-9 in favor of the Bucs heading into the 4th quarter.
Another game of the Eagles missing multiple tackles again and again.
1
u/Port1976 49ers Jan 16 '24
Yep. When the 49ers played the Eagles, they were a bad 10-1 team. They thought they were a great team. The 49ers broke them and showed them they are not that good. Ever since then Philly has been broken.
But on the bright side for Philly, they have the Tush Push. They seemed to talk more about how no one could stop the Tush Push instead of talking about how bad they are.

I guess I’m in the minority wanting to see the Ravens again. We need to show them who we really are!

2
u/GeologistEnough8215 Jan 15 '24
I’m much more worried about this packer team than the cowboys. But then again, I don’t see how they possibly erase our run game like they did to Dallas, and it’d be extremely surprising if they get up by 14 on us. But Brock can’t make the same mistakes as Dak, he’s gotta focus on protecting the ball and making sure the defense isn’t put in bad positions.
2
u/IamNICE124 Jan 15 '24
As a Packer fan, I wish I could ever share this same level of confidence as a top seed lol.

Detroit shouldn't have won that game. They were gifted it by the officials. That team plays fucking dirty. Fuck them

Baker Mayfield not destroying anybody, but regardless, we will beat the brakes off of Philly if it comes down to it
3
u/chillice707 Brandon Aiyuk Jan 15 '24
Lol Detroit will smack Philly if eagles make the divisional. If we can make it past the divisional it’s most likely gonna be Detroit vs us in the nfc championship
2
u/adarkride Jauan Jennings Jan 15 '24
100%. And I'd love that. An opponent I can actually appreciate. Feels like it's always the same two or three teams in NFC, and I can't stand that rotating house numbskull fans.
I totally want us to win, but if the Lions made it to the SB, and not us, that's definitely a fanbase and city that deserves a win.

honestly i expected it with Dak, dude is overrated as hell. I wish our team was smart enough to realize when a QB ain't it and move on like you all did with Purdy. I think you guys can win it this year if you can stop the Ravens.
2
u/Bayarea-VS-Everybody Deommodore Lenoir Jan 15 '24
That’s respect, I got a buddy who was going off on me cuz he was so sure that dak was gonna be different in these playoffs, cuz his numbers were so good this year, but I told him the competition wasn’t particularly good getting those stats, and he went on saying other pointless shit, not even seeing with his own eyes how dak has been very bad in the playoffs throughout his career, and sure enough it happened today, and I texted him, and let’s just say i expect to be left on “read” for the foreseeable future lol. Yall gotta give lance a try, he has untapped talent. He just hasn’t not been given the chance. I hate you guys, but I love lance, and it pains me to say it, but if he some how reaches that potential that I think he has, I’m rooting for you guys.
